West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James announces the establishment of the Mayor’s Transition Team Committee, a group of local residents, community leaders, and experts who have volunteered their time to work with Mayor James and City staff over the next 100 days to review City policies and goals and then make recommendations on how to tackle critical issues to improve the City of West Palm Beach.
Chaired by Don Kiselewski, Florida Power & Light executive and Former Chair of the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, the Mayor’s Transition Team Committee consists of eight policy committees: Arts, Culture, Education and Recreation; Economic Development & Jobs; Environment & Sustainability; Government Efficiency, Budget & Taxes; Homelessness; Neighborhoods First; Public Safety; Transportation, Mobility and Transit.
The Transition Team Committee members were selected by Mayor James based on their experience, diversity of ideas, and ability to fulfill leadership needs.
The Mayor’s Transition Team goals include:
Producing a concise report within 100 days that outlines opportunities, strategies, policies and priorities within eight key focus areas that will launch the success of the Mayor Keith A. James Administration;
Providing Mayor James with a list of recommendations for immediate consideration and potential implementation within the first 100 days;
Identifying ‘near term’ (prior to December 31, 2020) and ‘long-term’ (2021 and beyond) opportunities, strategies, policies and priorities;
Utilizing the best information, community resources and staff input to make recommendations.
“I am focused on listening to our community and ensuring we have a diversity of ideas and experiences to help guide our city forward,” said Mayor James. “I am thankful to Chair Don Kiselewski and to the Transition Team Committee members for their service and commitment to our City. I trust they will take my vision, look at additional opportunities and provide valuable input and recommendations as we work together towards our shared goal: to make our City even better.”
“This will be a big undertaking, and it’s the first of its kind in the City at this scale and scope. Mayor James has assembled the best and brightest in their fields, and we are ready to get to work. Our objective is clear, and we plan to deliver concise recommendations, strategies, and policy ideas that will position West Palm Beach for success,” said Kiselewski.
The Mayor’s Transition Team will first meet during the week of April 29, 2019 and then meet monthly through July. The Transition Team will meet with the Mayor, city staff and outside subject matter experts to develop their recommendations. Each member of the Transition Team is volunteering their time, experience and expertise.
