It’s been called an “invisible industry,” with many people not knowing it exists — yet it’s estimated that the meetings and conventions market in The Palm Beaches has a $147 million economic impact. Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) shines a light on the real impact meetings have on people, businesses and the economy.
On Thursday, April 4, Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB) joins with community leaders at the Palm Beach County Convention Center to highlight the beneficial economic impact of meetings, conventions and events for Palm Beach County.
“We are creating a bold, new vision for The Palm Beaches as a meetings and conventions destination,” said Jorge Pesquera, president and CEO for DTPB. “The area has enormous potential to become a major player in the industry, and our Customer Advisory Board has validated our vision. With the biggest surge in hotel inventory in Palm Beach County’s history taking place in 2020, watch out for critical meetings infrastructure developments over the near term.
GMID was created in 2016 by the Meetings Mean Business Coalition to raise the profile of the meetings and events industry and its worldwide $2.65 trillion economic impact. This year’s theme is “One Voice, One Industry.” Last year’s events involved meeting professional organizations, association chapters, corporations, destinations, elected officials and business leaders.
