The Palm Beach County Property Appraiser’s Office (PAO) will hold its 25th annual Scholarship Awards program on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the 5th Floor Atrium of the Governmental Center Bldg. (301 N. Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL)
This year, the PAO will grant $10,000 in scholarships to five area high school seniors, who will attend accredited higher-ed institutions.
Since 1994, the PAO has awarded $120,000 in college scholarships. This is the first year the amount was increased to $2,000 (per scholarship award).
The money raised for the scholarship awards is one hundred percent funded by the PAO employees who participate in, “Friday Dress Casual Day”, a volunteer donation program.
“These awards are only made possible by the generosity and commitment of our employees,” said Property Appraiser Dorothy Jacks, CFA, AAS. “They know the development of a well-educated workforce is vital to improving the lives in our community.”
For the 2018 scholarship program, more than 100 eligible applications were received and reviewed by our volunteer employee committee. These five high-achieving, exceptional students demonstrated excellence in academic ability, persistence, leadership, and service to others.
“It’s a competitive process and we are very proud of the students who worked hard to earn their scholarships,” said Patrick Kearney, CFE, chair of the employee committee.
